Obituary of Olin L. Byrd

WEST COLUMBIA-A funeral service celebrating the life Olin "Buster" L. Byrd, Jr., 81, of West Columbia, SC will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Astor L. Jacobs, Jr. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 120 Community Drive, Lexington, SC 29073 or the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Olin's memory. Affectionately called "Buster" by family and friends, he was born in Kershaw County, SC to Olin L. Byrd, Sr. and Mamie Holley Byrd. "Buster" was a truck driver for over 35 years and he was a dedicated member of the Cayce Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a Shriner. He was also a dedicated member of Red Bank Baptist Church. "Buster" was predeceased by his parents; a son, Michael A. Byrd; and a brother, Joe Byrd. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Ernestine Hallman Byrd; a daughter, Pam Sharpe; a granddaughter, Audria Sharpe; siblings, Howard Byrd (Pat), Ann Hewitt (Jimmy), and Carolyn Duval (Bert); a sister-in-law, Renee Byrd; several nieces, nephews, step-children and their children; other loving relatives and friends that will miss "Buster" dearly.
