Obituary of William Neil Thompson

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for William Neil Thompson, 71, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at Platt Springs United Methodist Church, 3215 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia, 29170. The Reverend Rebecca J. Shirley will officiate. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 will be assisting the family. Mr. Thompson, beloved husband of 16 years, to Linda Harsey Thompson, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014. Born in Kansas City, MO, he was a son to the late James Fred Thompson, Sr. and Mary N. Childs Thompson. He was a graduate of Bakers High School in Columbus, GA. Neil was a member of Platt Springs UMC for the last 10 years. Neil was a loving husband, father and Papa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing laughing, eating, and fellowship with his family. He had a true love for life! Surviving are his sons, Richard Thompson (Michelle), Michael R. McCaw (Karen J.), Michael P. Thompson (Marie) and Dewayne McCaw (Donna); seven grandchildren, Luke McCaw, Caitlin Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Mckenzie McCaw, Madison McCaw, Meghan Thompson and Emily McCaw; brother, Robert "Bobby" Thompson (Judy) along with a number of nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet, Isabella. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, James Fred Thompson, Jr. and Richard Merrill Thompson.
