Obituary of Linda Ham

WEST COLUMBIA—Linda Ham, born in Lexington on March 31, 1943, died early Monday morning at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital. The daughter of Effie Sharpe Sons and the late Jacob Walter Sons, she was a wonderful wife and the mother of 3 sons. Linda fought a vicious battle with pancreatic cancer for nearly 2 years, and even though the cancer won the battle, she won the war. Because of her faith in Jesus, she has now been received as a joint-heir of Christ in Glory. Linda is now justified and glorified and her destiny has been sealed by her faith in Him. Linda enjoyed playing tennis as well as regularly meeting with the members of the 1961 Brookland-Cayce High School graduating class. She relished singing in the First Baptist Columbia Church Choir. She was a long-time member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs of SC, holding many state offices. Most recently, she served as the Chairman of the Finance Committee. She was employed in promotional advertising at Geiger Carolinas in Chapin, SC. Most of all, Linda enjoyed her family. It consists of: Ray Ham, her husband of more than 50 years, and her 3 sons, Harold Ham of Kennesaw, GA and his wife, Vicky, Paul Ham of West Columbia and his wife, Lisa, and Jason Ham of Walden, NY, and his wife, Bonnie; sister, Jackie Boland of West Columbia and sister-in-law, Sylvia Welch of Anderson; grandchildren, Alexandria Rae Ham, Annabelle Grace Ham, Amelia Mae Ham of Kennesaw, GA and Jacob Michael Ham of Walden, NY. She was expecting another grandchild through Jason and Bonnie in late September, 2014. She was predeceased by a sister, Nina Childress and a brother-in-law, Herschel Welch.
