Obituary of Bobbie Allen Becknell

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Bobbie Allen Becknell, 79, of West Columbia, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Woodridge Memorial Park Gazebo, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum. Dr. Bill Drees and Charlton Bozard will officiate. The family will greet friends 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service in the Gazebo. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 will be assisting the family. Mrs. Becknell, beloved wife of the late Ronald E. Becknell, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late W.H. and Emmie Mae Waites Allen. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia. Surviving are her sons, Allen Becknell (Tena) of Ridgeway, Cary Becknell of Lake Wateree and James Kevin Becknell (Carla) of Lexington; grandchildren, Emily Becknell, Courtney Thompson, Caroline Becknell, Joshua Koby Becknell, Kayla Marie Becknell, Todd Foley and family and Kellee Foley and family; great-grandchild, Emoree Grace Becknell Gates; sisters, Jayne Eleazer (Donald) of West Columbia and Millie Galloway (John) of Lake Murray along with numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her friends, neighbors and beloved dog, Poo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Evelyn Allen. A special thank you to her niece, Amanda Galloway for the love and care she provided and the 8th floor Oncology at Lexington Medical Center. Memorials may be given to a charity of one's choice.
