Obituary of Dorothy S. Keller

CAYCE—Mrs. Dorothy Sandel Keller passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2014. She was the widow of Walter Wolfe Keller. Funeral services will be at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 1301 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033 on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with burial will follow in Pine Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery, 2688 McCord's Ferry Road, Cameron, SC 29030. Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 from 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014. Mrs. Keller was born on February 21, 1916, the daughter of the late John O'Neal and Lucille Weeks Sandel, Lone Star, SC. She was a member of Transfiguration Lutheran Church. After 20 years of service, she retired from the Lutheran Seminary in Columbia, SC having served as Secretary to Presidents Dr. Eppling Reinartz and Dr. H. George Anderson. Surviving are her 2 daughters and their husbands, Dorothy Neal and Cyril B. Busbee, Jr. of Irmo, SC and Carolyn and Robert Ken King, Sr. of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandsons and their wives are: Cyril B. "Tripp" Busbee III and Amanda of Greer, SC, Walter Neal "Walt" Busbee and Ashley of Hampton Cove, AL, William Steven Busbee and Jennifer of Charleston, SC and Robert K. "Bob" King, Jr. and Laura of West Friendship, MD. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Robert Busbee of Greer; Porter, Preston and Elle Busbee of Hampton Cove, AL; Brie and Greyson Busbee of Charleston; and BJ and Katherine King of West Friendship, MD. Mrs. Keller was predeceased by her husband, Walter, 4 brothers, John O'Neal, William C., Thomas W. and Floyd M. Sandel. She is survived by 2 brothers, Jaby D. "Bill" Sandel and his wife Miriam of Orangeburg, SC and Herman C. Sandel of Charleston, SC. The family offers special thanks to Mrs. Keller's caregivers and friends, Peggy Baker, Linda Kelly, Norma Miles, Sylvia Griggs, Nannie Mallory, Pastor Twedt, TLC Leisure Timers, as well as the entire staff at Morningside Assisted Living in Orangeburg for their loving care in the later years of her life.
