Obituary of Miriam Baker Brickle

COLUMBIA-Funeral services for Miriam Baker Brickle, 78, of Garden City, SC, will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036, with Reverends Jody Flowers and Paul Allen officiating. Entombment will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. (noon) at church. Mrs. Brickle went to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 4, 2014. Born March 21, 1936 in Nichols, SC, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Newford and Mary Elizabeth (Isgett) Baker. She was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ballentine Chapter 280, where she served as past chapter Worthy Matron from 2011-2012. She received her RN degree from the Baptist Hospital. She was also employed as an RN at Roper Hospital in Charleston, and later returned to Baptist until she retired. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 42 years, Clyde William Brickle, Sr.; brother and sister, Harvey Joel Baker and Joanne Graham; and dear special friend, Russell Booth. Surviving are her son, Gregory Shane Brickle and wife, Donna; nephew, Tavis Graham; grandchildren, Billy Brickle and Daniel Brickle-Stokes; sister and brother-in-law Marjorie Baker and Thomas Graham; the Booth family; her special care angel, Linda Betz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Chapin United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
