Obituary of Gladys B. Cornette

A funeral service celebrating the life of Gladys B. Cornette, 82, of Columbia will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Gladys placed her soul in the hands of the Lord on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants, Christopher and Veronica Buslawich. She grew up in Athol, Massachusetts, and moved to Columbia, South Carolina in the late 1950's. She spent most of her working career as an accounting clerk, and retired from Richland Memorial Hospital in 1995. She was an avid football fan, and enjoyed attending the University of South Carolina home games. Those left to cherish her beautiful memories are her devoted husband of 45 years, Rex Cornette, of the home; her sons, Chris Gardner of West Columbia, SC and Jeff Gardner and daughter-in-law, Ellen Gardner of Greer, SC; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a host of other loving relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
