Obituary of Jack Samuel Baker

CAYCE-Funeral service for Jack Samuel Baker, 78, of Cayce, will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. May 13, 2014 at Dixiana Baptist Church, 3516 Charleston Highway, West Columbia, SC 29172. Reverend Chris Platt will officiate. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens, 3111 Delree Street, West Columbia, SC 29170. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 is assisting the family. Mr. Baker died on Friday, May 10, 2014. Born March 25, 1936 in Horry County, SC, he was a son of the late Arthur Baker and Ruth Gasque Baker. He had been a local resident of Cayce from 1970's to 2008 till moving to Horry County. He was a member of Dixiana Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver. Surviving are his step-daughter, Connie Allen and husband Jackie; two step-granddaughters, Amanda Allen and Christine Lekovich (Jimmy); one step-great-grandson, James Bennett Lekovich; nieces, Ann Brown and Melanie Pope; and nephew, Marshall Baker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Baker and two brothers, Edgar Baker and Layton Barker.
