Obituary of James Edward Crapps

WEST COLUMBIA—James Edward Crapps, Sr. of West Columbia, SC (South Congaree) died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the age of 91. Mr. Crapps was the son of the late Lester and Girlie Crapps. He was a World War II veteran and proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps at the Panama Canal. Mr. Crapps retired from Spring Industries after 48 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Trinity Church. Survivors are his daughter, Della Paxton (John); sons, James Crapps, Jr. (Ann) and Jerry Crapps (Sue); daughter-in-law, Wanda Crapps; granddaughters, Sandra Boatwright (Richard), Lisa Linden (Joseph) and Shelby Kyzer (Addison); grandsons, Jeff Paxton (Gina), Tony Crapps (Heather); great-grandchildren, Tyler Boatwright, Mckenzie Boatwright and Austin Crapps, Allison Crapps, Justin Linden, Nathan Linden, Ethan Linden and Jack Linden; sister, Bertha Stone; sister-in-law, Sadie Tuten and a brother- in-law, Johnny Locklair. Mr. Crapps was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Beulah C. Crapps; son, Sammie Crapps; grandson, David Paxton; daughter-in-law, Alice Crapps and a brother, Talmadge Crapps. Funeral services for James E. Crapps will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Trinity Church, 650 Ermine Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Pastor Warren Parker will officiate. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The grandsons of Mr. Crapps will serve as pallbearers. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Memorials may be made to Trinity Church, West Campus, 650 Ermine Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
