Obituary of Robert Stephen Black

WEST COLUMBIA—Memorial service for Robert Stephen Black, 78, of West Columbia, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1715 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Mr. Black, beloved husband of Betty Craig Black, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014. Born in Seneca, he was the son of the late Ray Elson Black and Ruth Moore Black. He retired from the SC Department of Education as Director of Programs for Exceptional Children. Robert was an alumnus of Clemson University and an avid football fan. His interests included outdoor gardening and literature. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1715 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Surviving are his wife, Betty Craig Black of West Columbia; daughters, Lisa Black Reid (John M.) of Greenville, SC; and Kelly Black Coveleskie (Stanley R., III) of Atlanta, GA.
