Obituary of Kaye Douglas Clark

WEST COLUMBIA-A memorial service for Kaye Douglas Clark, 73, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Pastor Mike Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Ms. Clark died on Monday, June 2, 2014. Born in Cayce, SC on February 16, 1941, she was a daughter of the late D.J. Douglas, Jr. and B. Cleo House Douglas. She was a lifelong area resident. Kaye was the founder of the Panther Parlor in Pelion which became a famous teenage hangout in the 1980's. She was an avid gardener, loved raising chickens, and a very talented painter. She was also an avid fan of the USC "Lady" Gamecocks. Kaye was a devoted Christian and a lifelong member of New Life Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Robert F. Clark and his wife, Stacia M. Clark of West Columbia; two grandchildren, Brett Vaughn of the home and Cameron Clark of Pelion; eight sisters and brothers, Delene D. Wright, Nancy D. Bradley, Jacquelyn Douglas, Patsy Shirey, Dianne D. Heard, Jack Douglas, III, Gerry A. Douglas and Michael L. Douglas; and 24 nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to Aunt Jackie and Aunt Patty for all their help during Kaye's illness.
