Obituary of Virginia W. Dobbins

WEST COLUMBIA—Virginia W. Dobbins passed on to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Lexington Medical Center. She was surrounded by her loving family and passed peacefully. Born in Richland County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse John Adams Gates and Beauford Ellisor Gates, her maiden name was Virginia Lee Gates. She is survived by her brother, Jesse Gates, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. She had no children of her own but was mother to many of the family children and loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Olympia Cemetery, 1179 Olympia Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201. A special thank you to the nursing staff at Lexington Medical Center who cared for her.
