Obituary of James Larry Showalter

GASTON-Funeral service for James Larry Showalter, 60, of Gaston, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Reverend Mark Bredholt will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Christopher Pressley, Gregory Maxwell, James Bunnell, Randal Metcalf, Billy Thompson, Jr. and Christopher Metcalf. James passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014. Born in Charlottesville, VA on September 20, 1953, he was a son of the late James Milton and Audrey Napier Reed Showalter. He worked for CSI and Bonitz for more than 25 years. He was a loving husband, brother and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Rita Metcalf Showalter of Gaston; 3 grandchildren, Dekota Morin, Diania Gleaton and Christopher Morin; sister, Doris Mae Brewer (Larry) of Texas; brothers, Robert Milton Showalter of TN and David Lee Showalter of VA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Ray Showalter.
