Obituary of Ruth Ann Ketten

Ruth Ann (Stein) Ketten, 85, of Columbia, has left her earthly home for her Eternal Heavenly Home, on June 15, 2014. Born November 12, 1928 in Denver, CO she was the daughter of the late Raymond S. and Anna (Westfall) Stein. A member of Charity Baptist Church, Mrs. Ketten was also the pianist/organist there for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ketten was preceded in death by her first husband, John Gardner; her second husband, SSG Vernon A. Ketten; sons, Joseph Gardner and Timothy Scott Ketten; daughter, Kathryn Whetsell; and a grandson, Corey Whetsell. She is survived by five sons, Jerry Gardner (Theresa), Randy Gardner (Danielle), Stephen Nicki Gardner, Jaime Ketten (Tina) and Chris Ketten (Carla); three daughters, Cheryl McDonald (Larry), Linda Pender and Teresa Higgins (Patrick); 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Home going services will be conducted at 9:00 A.M., on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Charity Baptist Church, 2200 Lower Richland Blvd., Hopkins, SC 29061, with Pastor Jack W. Smith officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family requests that memorial contributions be made, in Ruth's name, to Charity Baptist Church.
