Obituary of Tora Watson Linton

COLUMBIA-Funeral services for Tora Watson Linton, 66, of Columbia, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at West Side Holiness Church, 527 Augusta Street, West Columbia. Pastor J. E. Jeffcoat will officiate. Burial will follow in Olympia Cemetery, 1179 Olympia Ave, in Columbia. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Lanny Spires, Randy Spires, Ray Watson, III, Andy Watson, Matthew Watson and Donnie Watson. Tora was born on May 21, 1948 and went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard R. Watston, Sr. and Dorothy Pearson Watson, and her husband, Samuel P. Linton III. She was a graduate of Olympia High School and a lifelong resident of Olympia. She was a hairdresser by trade and co-owner of Hair Works located at 3800 Covenant Road for 28 years. She also had 13 properties in the Olympia neighborhood that she owned, where she loved her neighbors and enjoyed making it look better. She was a member of West Side Holiness Church. She was a very kind hearted person and loved to help others and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Laronda Weaver, a brother, Howard R. Watson, Jr (and his wife Vivian).; sisters, Barbara W. Sharpe and Marsha J. Watson; and a very special cousin/sister and business partner, Gerene S. Wingard; step-son, Samuel Linton, IV; step-daughter, Ginny Linton; two step-grandsons and numerous nieces, nephews and loving cousins. Memorials may be made to West Side Holiness Church, P.O.
