Obituary of Carolyn Spires Kelly

GASTON-Carolyn Spires Kelly, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2014. The beloved wife of Heyward Kelly, Carolyn was born on March 10, 1934 in Gaston, South Carolina to the late Nathaniel and Mayfield Spires. Carolyn Kelly graduated from Swansea High School and retired from Carolina Eastman. She was an active and devoted member of her church, First Baptist Church of Gaston. Carolyn's life revolved around her sweet loving husband, her two children, her four grandchildren, and her church family. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 51 years, Heyward Kelly, her two children, Heyward Anthony "Tony" Kelly of Gaston and Connie Kelly Jones (and husband Andy Jones) of North Augusta, her four grandchildren, Andrew English Jones of North Augusta, Tessa Marie Kelly of Gaston, Kelly Anne Jones of North Augusta and Katlyn Nicole Kelly of Gaston. Her five surviving siblings, Robert Spires of Gaston, Jo Ellen Haigwood of Gaston, Harold Spires of Cayce, David Spires of Gaston and Phillip Spires of Gaston. Visitation will be held on Saturday June 21, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home on 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday June 22, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gaston, with burial in the church cemetery immediately following the service. Pallbearers will be Terry Pound, Glenn Pound, Drew Jones, Mike Rollison, Bobby Spires, and Duane Johnson. Officiating the service will be Pastor Gary Farmer and Pastor Larry Harrison.
