Obituary of Lind J. Tucker

Lind J. Tucker, 50, of Hopkins, went Home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Palmetto Health Richland. Born July 8, 1963 in Moline, IL, he was a son of the late Lawrence J. Sr., and Elsie Mae (Charles) Tucker. A veteran of the US Army, Lind actively served during Operation Desert Shield and Storm. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned to the military as a civil service employee where he continued working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He was a life member of VFW Post 1303, in Rock Island, IL, as well as a member the American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid NASCAR fan as well as an active member of the NRA. Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife of more than 10 years, Linda Dianne (Smith) Tucker; seven children, Brandon Tucker (Julie), Andrew Tucker, Sarah Tucker, Shayne Tucker, Anna Raymond, Sabrina Raymond and Rolland Raymond; brothers, Lawrence J. Tucker, Jr. (Gail), Ladd J. Tucker (Sara) and Charles J. Tucker (Deanna); sister, Lori C. Alvarez (Ferdie); 12 grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 P.M. (Noon), on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia SC 29210.
