Obituary of Benjamin Sellers

Funeral services for Benjamin Sellers, 69 of West Columbia, will be held Wednesday, July 2, at 11:00 a.m., Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Rev. Timothy Bryson and Dr. Billy Carroll will officiate. Entombment with Full Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow at the Mausoleum of Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at Thompson Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 1, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Benny Sellers passed away Sunday, June 29 at Agape of West Columbia. Born and raised in Conway, S.C., he was the son of the late Athos and Lunette (McCracken) Sellers. Benny was a member of the Springdale Baptist Church, a member of the Scottish Rite of Columbia and Broad River Lodge 377 of Free Masons. He was a proud 20 year U.S. Army Veteran and had retired from the Veterans Administration in Columbia, S.C. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda, and daughter Sharon Sloan (Tripp) of Lexington. He will be dearly missed by grand-daughters Abby, Aubrey, and Gracyn Sloan. He is also survived by brothers Harold (Betty), Bobby (Wilma), Junior (Garnette, deceased) Sellers, and several nephews and nieces. Benny was predeceased by his brother Earl Lenwood Sellers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
