Obituary of Louise Rector Nations

WEST COLUMBIA—Services for Louise Rector Nations, 90, of West Columbia, SC will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 Mrs. Nations died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at home. Born in Gastonia, North Carolina, she was a daughter of Mary Thomasson Rector and Robert Lee Rector. She worked for over 30 years as a textile worker for Pacific Mills in Columbia. She also worked several years for Eclaire Bakery. Her most recent work until she retired was for Threat's Fashions of Columbia. She was a long time member of Kittiwake Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her wonderful cake baking, southern cooking, and generosity to others. She loved her God, family, church and many friends. She always put others first and received a great amount of fulfillment from helping others. Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by family and friends enjoying one another's company. Louise's family and friends will truly miss her humor, warmth, kindness, delicious cooking and endless love. Surviving are daughters, Gloria Burnside (Barney) of West Columbia, Phyllis Coppedge (Don) of Kershaw, and Betty Warren (Marty) of Chesapeake, Virginia. She was predeceased by her son, Albert Smith; four brothers, Beaufort, Floyd, Horace and James "Jimmy" Rector; and one sister, Margaret Marsh. She was a loving, kind grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
