Obituary of Hilda Maria Olivo Rodriguez

West Columbia—Hilda Maria (Olivo) Rodriguez, 90, of West Columbia, entered into rest Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Lexington Medical Center. Born September 10, 1923 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico she was a daughter of the late Francisco and Secundina (Sanchez) Olivo. A member of St. Neumann Catholic Church, Mrs. Rodriguez was also a member of Healing and Hope National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows; Sacred Heart Auto League; Association of the Miraculous Medal; a well as an active giver and supporter of the St. Jude Children's Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, SFC Miguel Rodriguez, with whom she shared a devoted and blessed union of more than 58 years; as well as a sister, Pura Angelica Sanchez. Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her children, Maria Harms (Robert), of Atlanta, GA, Nydia Harter (Murray, Jr.), of Cayce, Evelyn "Ebbie" Rodriguez (Jose Perez), of West Columbia, Jacqueline "Jackie" Senn (Ryan), of Columbia and Michael Rodriguez, of West Columbia; sister, Ramona J. Negron (Abraham); brother, Francisco Olivo Sanchez, Jr.; grandchildren, Kimbal Campbell, Sheryl Harms-Tracy, Michelle, "Trey" Roscoe III and Matthew Harter, Jessie Simmons and Miranda McCutcheon, Tracie Kestner and Jamie Sox; great grandchildren, Ariel and Alexa Shockley, Matthew Harter, Bryce, Katherine, Bailey and "Ross" Roscoe Harter IV, Jeffrey, Julie, Jenna and Jacob Simmons, Tyler and Brieana Lykes, Isaiah Middleton, Brayden and Weston Sox; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia SC 29223, with Father Javier Heredia officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary service beginning at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
