Obituary of Janie Hartzog West

Janie Hartzog West, 85, of West Columbia, entered into rest Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at The Heritage at Lowman Home, White Rock, SC. Born April 19, 1929 in Cope, SC she was a daughter of the late Chester and Bessie (Sanford) Hartzog. Janie was best known as a loving caregiver to her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Mae King and Ada Blankenship; two brothers, Bert and Albert Hartzog. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Ervin H. West, Sr. She is survived by her son, Ervin H. West (Donna), of West Columbia; three daughters, Janie Lynn West, of Charleston, SC, Elizabeth "Libby" Teague (Gary), of Hendersonville, NC, and Alma "Happy" Jenkins, of West Columbia; brother, Monroe Hartzog, of Ladson, SC; six grandchildren, Lyndsey and Stuart West, Jeremy Addy (Carolyn), Jason Jenkins, Angie Roof (Rick) and Chris Jenkins; three great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, with Reverend Albert Cox officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
