Obituary of Ruby Harper Hite

WEST COLUMBIA-Funeral services for Ruby Harper Hite will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Sunday in the Bernhardt Room at the church prior to the service. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State St., West Columbia, SC is assisting the family. Ruby Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who was devoted to her church, Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. A faithful member at Mt. Tabor for more than 60 years; she was a member of the "Scatter Cheer" committee. Ruby Mae was actively involved in her community, having sold World Book Encyclopedia and later Avon for many years. She will be dearly missed by her family and her church family. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Hite Boyd of Lexington, 2 grandsons; Anthony Richard Shirah of West Columbia and Charles Wilson Boyd of Lexington; cousin, Charles Hite (Katty) of Cayce, and nephew, Frank Shealy (Sandy) of Irmo. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Robert Earle Hite; a sister, Thelma Propes, and two brothers, Haskell Harper and M.L. "Butch" Harper. Memorials may be made to Mt.
