Obituary of Barbara Lynne Rippy

Barbara Lynne Rippy Columbia, SC - A funeral service celebrating the life of Barbara Lynne Rippy, 64, of Columbia will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with Pastor Richard Rusnak officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Ms. Rippy departed this earthly life on Friday, August 1, 2014. She was born in Columbia, SC to the late Herman Rudolph Bell and Eunice Crossland Bell Matthews. Ms. Rippy was a member of the First Church of God-Columbia on Covenant Road and she also retired from the Trust Department at Wachovia Bank. She was currently employed with the Alston Wilkes Society helping to rebuild lives for a safer community. Ms. Rippy was a dedicated volunteer and had a passion for working with the homeless citizens and the prison ministry in Columbia. Ms. Rippy was predeceased by her husband, Jack Rippy, Sr. Those left to cherish her precious memories are her sons, Jack Edward Rippy, Jr. and Robert "Bobby" Rippy (Stacey); her sisters, Vicki Wahab (Bob), Debbie Felkel (Boyd), and April Sanders (Art); a brother, Charles Matthews (Venus); eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
