Obituary of Corey Allen Whiteside

Funeral services for Corey Allen Whiteside, 24, of Gaston, will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Reverend Wendell Hendrix will officiate. Burial will follow in Gibson Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:00PM-2:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends and family may bring any meals to the home of Sandy and Lloyd Johnson, 309 Dixana Drive, Gaston, SC 29053 or may call 739-0740. Mr. Whiteside passed away on August 6, 2014. He was born in Columbia on July 5, 1990. He graduated from Swansea High School in 2011, and he participated in the Special Olympics. Corey loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to the Thrift Stores with his Uncle Russell; eating Granny Bailey's chocolate pies; and sitting outside enjoying nature. He also enjoyed listening to gospel music with his teachers at Swansea High School; going to Tennessee to spend time with his sister, Beverly and her family, Ralph, Brittany and Kyle. Corey enjoyed Praising God on Sunday mornings at his church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing with his dog "Opie" and going to the fair was an event he loved. Surviving are his mother, Linda Wingard ; brothers and sisters, Beverly Bailey, Kayce Whiteside, Autumn Whiteside, Justin Whiteside, Devon Whiteside, Chris Ayers and Brianna Whiteside.
