Obituary of Helen Welch Irick

Funeral services for Helen Welch Irick, 64, of Cayce, will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road in Lexington. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road in Lexington. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Monday, August 11, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Mrs. Irick passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014. She was born in Sumter, SC on February 6, 1950 to the late James H. Truesdale and Salaska Watford Truesdale. Helen retired as a self-employed cosmetologist for over 40 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who was the heart and the rock of her family. She enjoyed riding her Harley-Davidson and was known by many as "Sporty Mama". She was a little woman with a big heart, and will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Surviving is her husband of 21 years, J.W. Irick, Jr. of Cayce; sons, Ronnie T. Welch, Jr. (Traci) of Cayce and John Allan Welch, Sr. (Cyndi) of Greensboro, N.C.; daughter, Liz Jones of Sumter; ten grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Coker and Carolyn Larsen both of Sumter; and brothers, George Alvin "Al" Truesdale of Tennessee and Cecil Truesdale of Sumter. She was predeceased by husband Ronnie T. Welch, Sr., grandson, Ronnie "Tripp" Welch, III, her sister, Margaret Rader and brother, Louis H. Truesdale.
