Rita and Hank, I am so sorry to find out about your dad as read about your mom. I believe they're together...as my folks are, too. We were neighbors on Wando St.,many, many years ago! My prayers are with you and your family...I know your folks loved you so much!

Do you realize how many life's Mr. Harry touched while on this earth?
Rita, you, Hank and all the whole family should be very proud knowing the good your daddy did while serving the needs of so many others! What a life he lived! I am praying that all of you will be able to celebrate your daddy's life and the good man he was. Draw strength knowing that your daddy rests peacefully in the arms God!

Harry was a very devoted volunteer to Harvest Hope Food Bank! He worked in many areas and had the largest number of hours worked! Of the many volunteer tasks he did, from planting, trimming and caring for our shrubbery and trees, to packing buggies for hungry families waiting, his greatest love to help hungry people was sorting huge bins of fresh vegetables and fruit. He cared for the fresh product, sorting it and packing it as if he was in his own kitchen. He gave great care to this area and every volunteer that worked with Harry was not only well trained but also well loved. He loved being with people and his compassion for others was always energetic. He made us laugh in our canteen and when something happened that touched him, he would share it so we could appreciate and love more our work of taking care of those who did not know where their next meal was coming from. Not only did we share many laughs but we shared tears together when we heard of a special story from a hungry family. He cared for people and did not want to see others hurting. He was a saver of resources making sure that nothing was wasted and if something could have a second life then by all means use it. Harry was fun to volunteer with, making everyone he worked with, both volunteers and staff, feel like a great friend. Harry was not only a 'doer' but he was also a great 'thinker'. There were times particularly in the early years that I would be asking about some internal process. I sought Harry's opinion not only out of great respect but also because it was probably something he was already thinking about and how to improve it. He made many suggestions over the years that is something we do now because his suggestion improved what we did and how we serve. We are so saddened of his loss. He will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with his family! Denise Holland, CEO, Harvest Hope Food Bank.
