Obituary of Mary Arthur Swan Clements

Mary Arthur Swan Clements, 97, died on Friday, August 15, 2014, at the Rice Estate in Columbia, SC, where she had resided since 1999. Born June 20, 1917 in Knoxville, TN, she was the daughter of William H. Swan and May Cross Swan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Groner Clements and her son, William Lynn Clements. She is survived by her son, Charles Christopher Clements of West Columbia. She was a member of St. Martin's-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Columbia. Prior to moving to South Carolina, she lived in Chattanooga, TN, more than 60 years. There she was parish secretary and an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at St. Martin's-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church (5220 Clemson Ave., Columbia, SC 29206) on Friday, August 22, at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in Chattanooga, TN, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church.
