Obituary of James F. Strange

Columbia - James F. "Jimmy" Strange, Jr., 74, of Columbia, South Carolina, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 1 pm at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29206. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 2 pm, with interment following in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Jimmy was born June 9, 1940 in Columbia, son of the late James F. Strange, Sr. and Ray Nell Strange. Jimmy attended Columbia High School. After graduation, he worked at Columbia Office Supply Company. Later, he became a salesman at Dick Smith Motors and Hancock Buick. Jimmy retired from AFLAC Insurance Company as a Regional Sales Coordinator in 1987. Jimmy was an avid University of South Carolina Gamecock fan throughout his life and collected Gamecock memorabilia. He was a member of Shandon Baptist Church for more than 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Carol Baldwin Strange; daughter, Beth Strange Parks (William); granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Long; sister, Johanne Vinck (Russell) all of Columbia; and numerous beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
