Obituary of Wilkie R. Daniel

Columbia, SC-A graveside service celebrating the life of Willkie R. Daniel, Jr., 87, (United States Army, Ret.) of Columbia will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 29, 2014 in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Reverend David Sturgeon to officiate and full military honors will follow. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. Friday morning until to the hour of the service at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Temple Baptist Church, 806 Universal Drive, Columbia, SC 29209 in Wilkie's memory. On-line condolences may be sent to www.Thompsonsfuneral.com. Mr. Daniel passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014. He was a dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Daniel retired from the United States Army after having served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Mr. Daniel was predeceased by his wife, Mary Stripling Daniel. Surviving are his nephew whom he raised as his son, Rick Kelly and his wife, Barrie; a daughter-in-law, Regina Parrott; grandchildren, Wade Parrott and Jessica Thomas (Mike); a great-grandchild, Georgia Lynn Thomas; a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
