Obituary of Janet Abner Corder

Pelion, SC-A memorial service celebrating the life of Janet Abner Corder, 53, of Pelion will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 with Minister Jerry Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. After two years of giving all her love, devotion, dedication, and loyalty to faithfully staying by the side of her soul-mate and husband, Dewey Corder, during his battle with Cancer and six months of grieving the loss of the other half of her soul, Janet has gone to once again be reunited with him. She was a remarkable woman who always put others before herself. She has always done whatever it took to ensure her family was taken care of. She never asked much for herself, but always took care and gave to others. She wore many different hats for many family members and friends. She was a phenomenal mother to her two children, Chris Williams (Hannah) and Michelle Francis (Eric). She was a very loving grandmother to her five grandchildren, Grace Williams, Nathanael Williams, Kali Francis, Faith Williams, and Skyler Francis. She was a loving sister to her five siblings, Buddy Blanchard (Nancy), Jeff Byrd (Myra), Robin Abner, Gerald Byrd, and Margaret Couture (Jonathan). She was always an encourager, supporter, and friend. To her many nieces, nephews, and cousins; she was a great and loving aunt. One of her most favorite things to do was to "hold court" at the kitchen table with her "golden girls". Earth lost a very remarkable and extraordinary woman, who will be sorely missed by many, but Heaven gained the other half of the soul that has been missing since the love of her life and her rock was called home.
