Obituary of Lori Joye Spears

Lexington - Mrs. Lori Joye Spears, 53, wife of Grover A. (Ron) Spears, Jr., passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014. A daughter of LaDonna (Meeds) Moss and Duane Moss, she was born in Wichita KS. She was a graduate of Keenan High School in Columbia, SC. Lori was a very loving wife, daughter and a devoted mother. Mrs. Spears retired after 28 years from the University Of South Carolina, where she was the office manager for the Department of Government and International Studies. Lori was a big Gamecock fan; she even had a Gamecock themed wedding. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and watching NASCAR. Earlier in life, she enjoyed bowling and swimming. Her greatest joys were by far, her family. Lori enjoyed being there to support her children and grandchildren most of all. Survivors include her loving husband and parents of Lexington SC; a son, Justin Joye (Amanda); step children, Jason Spears (Melinda) and Rachel Spears; grandsons, Baylee, Joseph, Timothy, Hunter and Michael; and granddaughters, Mackenzie and Eliana. Lori also leaves behind a brother, Brad Standiford; nieces, Gabby and Sierra (Josh); her best friend and sister in law, Jennifer Bolton; as well as her 5 much loved dogs. Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, located at 4720 Augusta Road, in Lexington SC on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM. The Spears family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
