Obituary of James Henry Barrs

Graveside service for James Henry Barrs, 89, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Southland Memorial Gardens. Mr. Barrs, widower of the late Maggie Naomi Gowan Barrs, died on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. He was born in Pelion, SC to late Henry and Magnolia Lucas Barrs. He retired from Textile and was a member of Laurel Baptist Church. Mr. Barrs was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are his son, James Ray Barrs; daughter, Ann Gordon (Ronnie); three grandchildren, Ricky and Jeff Gordon and Michael Barrs; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurel Baptist Church, 2250 Pine Street, West Columbia, SC 29170.
