Obituary of Willaim A. Mayson

William A. "Billy" Mayson West Columbia - Funeral services for William A. "Billy" Mayson, 84, will be held at the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 2:00 PM. Reverend Wayne Smith, Jr. will officiate. Entombment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. William Mayson passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on October 6, 2014. He was born in Edgefield County; the son of the late William Wallace Mayson and Aureila Seigler Mayson. Billy was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the State Highway Department Engineering division after 36 years of service. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Mary Sue Dillashaw Mayson, two sons, William J. Mayson, Robert E. Mayson (Christine), both of West Columbia, S.C. and one granddaughter, Rebekah Mayson, also of West Columbia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers. The family would like to thank Cathy and Deb of Pruitt Hospice for their faithful service and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Mayson's honor to Brookland United Methodist Church, 541 Meeting Street, West Columbia, S.C. 29169.
