Obituary of Uldine Perkins

Uldine "Dean" Perkins , 81 of West Columbia SC , passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 13, 2014. Ms. Perkins was born on July 31, 1933 in the late James Trenton Nesmith, and Janie (McCorkle) Nesmith. Dean was a kind soul that had never met a stranger. She constantly helped those around her. She was an outstanding cook. Dean was known for her delicious, but not healthy macaroni and cheese. It was a true crowd favorite. She also loved to take walks and enjoyed nature and loved visiting the lake. Ms. Perkins was as fiery as she was kind. Her sharp wit and broad smile will be missed. Ms. Perkins is survived by her two daughters; Jane Etheridge (John) of Evans GA and Judy Hundley (Mike) of West Columbia SC, three great grandchildren Blake Ethridge of Evans GA, Dylan Hundley of West Columbia SC, Tina Hadley of Waynesboro GA; two great grandchildren, Haley Kate Hadley of Waynesboro GA, and Avery Hadley also of Waynesboro GA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her best friend, her beloved basset hound "Buster". Dean was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, James A. Perkins, a son; James Perkins, a sister; Nancy Louise Porter, and two brothers; Trenton Nesmith, and Hilton Nesmith. Graveside services will be at Burke Memorial Gardens, 842 N. Liberty St, Waynesboro GA, 30830 on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 12 P.M. with the Reverend Michael Godfrey officiating. Flowers for the family may be delivered to Thompson's Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington SC, 29072. Donations may also be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
