Obituary of Jacob Alex Rodgers

Gaston - Jacob Alex Rodgers, 94, of Gaston passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Mr. Rodgers was born on August 10, 1920 in Kingstree, South Carolina. Mr. Rodgers worked for waterworks department for the town of Kingstree and retired in Bamberg. He was a former commander of the VFW Bamberg. He was preceded in death by two of his children, Deborah Mae Rodgers and Jay Rodgers; and one grandchild, Pauly Martin. He is survived by his daughter, Kay (Eddie) Martin; two grandchildren, Jay Smiley and Hope Kennedy; seven adopted grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Oak Grove Methodist Church in Swansea, South Carolina. The family will receive friends following the service. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, South Carolina is assisting the family.
