Obituary of Diana Haunani Young Nichols

A funeral service celebrating the life of Diana Haunani Young-Nichols, 57, of Elgin will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with Pastor Freddy Johnson officiating. Diana Haunani Young-Nichols was born on May 28, 1957 in Honolulu, Hawaii departed this world on Saturday, October 25, 2014. She follows the path of her fathers, John K. Young, Jr. & Vernon Nichols; brother, John P. Young; sister, Muriel K. Young and son, Jonathan Young-Williams. She leaves a trail for her mothers, Agnes Young & Mary Nichols; sisters, Doreen Putnal, Cherylann Samide, Nina Young-Williams, Linda Young-Baggott, Christina Orellana, Sara Nichols and Rebecca Butler; brothers, Charles Putnal, David Williams, Todd Baggott, Miguel Orellana, Rex Nichols, Douglas Nichols and Frank Butler; daughters, Malia Young-Williams, Desiree Samide, Amber O'Quinn-Nichols, Chelsey Samide, Tiffany Wagner, Stephanie Gregory, Katie Williams, Annette Castro, Julie Rivera and Catrina Ramirez; sons, Stephen Nichols, Richard Nichols, John Samide, Joshua Putnal, Robert Young-Williams, James Young-Williams, Raphael Castro, Francisco Rivera, Ty Durrell and Jamie Putnal; grandchildren, Keith, Ethan and Zoei O'Quinn-Nichols, Orion Nichols, Israel, Keoni and Lincoln Samide, and her devoted, loving husband Joel Keith Nichols. She was a Nurse for Richland Memorial Hospital & Midlands Center. She was also a teacher of Nursing at Rutledge College. The last few years she was a volunteer for Blaney Elementary School in Elgin, known to the children as "Gammie." She was a member of the North Pointe Community Church. She was loved by all who met her and will be missed by all who loved her. Her final message to her husband: 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5, Verse 28 "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you."
