Obituary of Ernie Clay Spires
Lexington - Ernie Clay Spires, 58, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Congaree Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Pelfrey and Reverend David Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, South Carolina 29073.
Ernie was born in Columbia, South Carolina to the late J.C. and Myrtle Spires. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Congaree Baptist Church. Ernie was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle and was an avid Gamecock fan.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Spires; mother-in-law, Kaye H. Emmons of Greenville; sister-in-law, Ruth Spires of West Columbia; brother-in-law, David Norrell of Lubbock, Texas; nephews and nieces, Clay Spires, Mark Spires, Ken Spires, John Spires, Beth Sturkie, Jackson Norrell and Meghan Norrell; and numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces.
