Obituary of Willie Frank Whitaker

Funeral services for Willie Frank Whitaker, Sr., 72, of Pelion will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road in Lexington. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. Pastor Willie Frank Whitaker, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Whitaker died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. He was born in Swansea, SC, to the late John Brogdon and Blondell Jumper Whitaker. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He was a general contractor building condominiums, apartments, residential homes and hotels. Willie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who enjoyed his family and friends. Willie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jackie P. Whitaker; four sons, Will Whitaker, Tony Whitaker, Greg Lee and Donald Lee; four sisters, Sonja Ferris, Linda Knight, Angie Tindall and Pam Day; three brothers, John Whitaker, Harold Knight and Randy Knight; 24 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; also survived by a large and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Grenier; sister, Diane O'Neal and brother, Bennie Whitaker.
