Obituary of Robert Hugh Sox

Our loving and kind father, Robert Hugh Sox, passed away on Nov. 11, 2014 with his wife Jacqueline and his 4 children at his side. Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. The funeral will be on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, 4347 Sunset Boulevard, West Columbia, SC 29072. Interment will follow in Lexington Memorial Gardens. Hugh was a native of Springdale, SC, and was born August 16, 1932 to the late Clarence Lewie Sox and Gladys Hook Sox. He leaves behind his wife Jacqueline Courtney Sox and his 4 children, Robert Joe Sox, Jack A. Sox (Lilliana), Hughette Sox Peeples (Ronnie), Nancy Sox Peters (Frank); 6 grandchildren, Robert N. Peeples, Trent Jeffcoat, Christopher A. Peeples, Frank Andrew Peters, Courtney C. Sox and Jack A. Sox Jr.; Great-Grandson, Walker Jeffcoat; sister Dorothy Sox Cook (Ray) of Charleston, SC; sister-in-law Sara Quinton; his brother-in-Christ Norman B. "Slim" Barrett. He also leaves behind many cousins, nephews and employees who were like family to him. Robert was the President and Owner of Sox and Sons Construction Company, which he started when he was 50 years old. He helped build many of the interstates around the country in the 50's and 60's including I-20 and I-26. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, and was a Shriner and Mason. Our father, who was a Godly man, loved his family greatly, and believed in using what the Lord had given him to make a difference in this world. He also believed in giving back what God had given him. Mr. Sox gave generously to others in need and showed all of us by his example what Jesus meant when he said" Let my light shine thru you for the entire world to see". He fought a long battle with cancer, but is now in the presence of Jesus.
