Obituary of Esther W. Bardos

Columbia - Esther W. Bardos, 101, of Columbia SC, passed away November 16, 2014 at Heartland of Lexington West Columbia, South Carolina. She was born on June 23, 1913 in Robeline, LA to the late Dr. William Lee Litton and Lela (Horn) Litton. Mrs. Bardos was a graduate of Charity Hospital School of Nursing in 1933 in Shreveport, LA. She was very active, serving on many committees in the nursing field. Esther retired in 1991 after 60 years in nursing. She moved from Ft. Lauderdale FL, to Columbia, SC in 1998. An active member of First Baptist Church downtown, she was also a retired member of "Mended Hearts", an auxiliary of Providence Hospital where she visited and encouraged heart patients for six years. Esther is survived by her son; William Coleman Bardos (Irene) of Raleigh NC, a daughter; Nena Gayle Allen (Charles) of Columbia, SC, four grandchildren; Gregory Bowden, (Kristen) of Baltimore, MD, Richard Bardos (Amy) of Wake Forest, NC, Daniel Bardos of Raleigh, NC and Debra Marusak (Scott) of Cary, NC. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Mrs. Bardos was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Walter Samuel Bardos, two sisters; Lurleen Litton and Evelyn Litton. At the request of the family a private service will be held at a later date.
