Obituary of Grady Allen McWatters

Gilbert - Grady Allen McWatters, Jr., 48, of Gilbert, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Chapel at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Interment will follow in Gilbert First Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Reynold Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Born in Chester, South Carolina on October 26, 1966, Allen was a son of Patricia Ann and Grady A. McWatters, Sr. He attended Crossroads Baptist Church and was a member of Gilbert First Baptist Church for many years. He was employed with Icon Identity Solutions. Allen established the first girls' softball team in Gilbert. He was an avid Gamecock fan, enjoyed hunting and fishing, sports of all types and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Allen is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Amanda Lynn McWatters; daughter, Brittany McLaughlin (Trace) of Ft. Stewart, Georgia; sons, Bradley McWatters (Destiny Derrick) of Pelion, Trevor and Thatcher McWatters; brothers, Michael and Chris McWatters; sister-in-law, Kathy Sturkie; brother-in-law, Mitch Hewitt, all of Gilbert; grandchildren, Maya and Braylen; and expectant granddaughter, Jade; mother-in-law, Judy Goins of Lexington; father-in-law, Harold F. Sturkie, Jr. of Leesville; nieces and nephews; Savannah and Kaili McWatters and Mackenzie, Blake and Dalton Hewitt.
