Obituary of Elizabeth G. Peters

West Columbia - Elizabeth Peters, 64, of West Columbia passed away December 2, 2014. She was born in Lackawanna, NY on May 5, 1950 to the late Wilbur T. Fulmer and Audrey G. Bowmen. In addition to her father, she is predeceased by her brothers, Michael T. Fulmer and Richard L. Fulmer. She received her Masters of Business Administration from Chadwick University. Elizabeth was the founder and a board member of the SC Association of Prevention Professionals and Advocates. She was also a Certified Senior Prevention Specialist and an Internationally Certified Prevention Specialist. In 2008, Elizabeth was honored with SCAPPA's Norman Peter (Pete) Johnson Outstanding Prevention Professional Award. She retired from DAODAS. Following her retirement from DAODAS, Elizabeth founded Peters, Long & Associates, Inc., a nonprofit [501(c)3] organization where she served as a consultant for training and special prevention- related projects. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, John Peters Jr.; mother, Audrey Bowmen; brother, David W. Fulmer; daughters, Ann Pilicer and Michelle Zeigler; her 4 grandchildren; Ann's two children; and Michelle's children, Kyle Griggs and Megan Griggs. Funeral services will be held at Greenhill Baptist Church on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Scholarship memorials may be made to SCAPPA, P.O. Box 1763 Columbia, SC 29202.
