Obituary of Sadie Lucas

Sadie Mangum Lucas, 84, of West Columbia, wife of the late Lester C. Lucas, Sr. went to be with her Lord Sunday, December 7, 2014. Mrs. Lucas was born on March 25, 1930 in Rutherford County, NC. She was a daughter of the late Johnnie H. and Theola Murphy Mangum. Sadie was a loving mother and caretaker and enjoyed traveling, the beach and working in her yard. First and foremost Sadie loved her children and grandchildren raising them to the end. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Greater Columbia Home Builders Association. She was vice president of Lester C. Lucas Construction and Charwood Country Club and a member of Trinity Baptist Church for over 30 years. Mrs. Lucas is survived by a daughter, Leslie Lucas; four sons, Doug, Sandy, John Allen, and Rock Lucas (Kelly); stepchildren, Debora (Bill) McKnight, Vicky, Karen, and Charlie Lucas; eighteen grandchildren; and a sister, Margret Brinson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church, 2003 Charleston Hwy, Cayce, SC 29033. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church.
