Obituary of Irvin Franklin Stack

Cayce - Irvin Franklin Stack, 77, of Cayce, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Born in Irmo, SC on July 2, 1937, he was a son of the late Lois Koon and Horace Michael Stack. A faithful member of Dunn's Chapel Church, Irvin served on the Board and as Chairman of the Board of the church. He retired from Southeastern Freightlines after 30 years of faithful service, and he served his country in the Army National Guard. Irvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margie L. Stack; daughter, Sherry Stack Spires (Johnny) of West Columbia, son, Irvin F. Stack, Jr. (Leila) of Lugoff and daughter, Deborah Stack Prince (Billy) of West Columbia; sister, Joann Murray of Columbia; brother, Donnie Stack (Willene) of Irmo; eight grandchildren, Amanda Huff, Colby Spires, Madison Tudor, Kendall, Hunter and Brennan Prince, and Timothy and Brittany Higgins. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Dunn's Chapel, 281 Chapel Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29172, and burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pastor Tom Atten will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School class. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. In addition to flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to American Lung Assn., 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201. The family would like to offer special thanks for the loving care provided by the staff of South Carolina Oncology; Dr. Mushtaq and nurse, Linda Byers; Hospice Care of South Carolina; Cindy Taylor, Nancy Parker and Aisha Williams.
