Obituary of Johnnie Derrick Duffie

Johnnie "Jack" Derrick Duffie Jr., 64, passed away December 11, 2014. Jack was born January 25, 1950, in Columbia, S.C., the son of the late Col. Johnnie "Jake" Derrick Duffie and the late Betty Duffie. He was a graduate of Dreher High School, lived in the Shandon area much of his life and attended the University of South Carolina. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Angela Duffie, his son Johnnie "Jake" Derrick Duffie III (Marjorie), his daughter Fleming Kolnik (Neal), his sister Betsy Heynen (Chuck), his brother Pat Duffie (Diane), niece Kani Garren (Mike) and his dignified English Setter Sam. An avid Gamecock fan and golfer, Jack enjoyed cutting up with his longtime friends and grilling out with his family. He was known for always wearing sunglasses in photos and a sarcastic grin that he would showcase with a "forget about it" when someone was worried about something trivial. A memorial service will be Saturday, December 13, at 2 p.m. at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, 1005 Asbury Dr., Columbia, SC 29209 or to the charity of your choice.
