Obituary of William Chandler Barton

LEXINGTON-Funeral services for William "Bill" Chandler Barton, 83, will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Hill Baptist Church, 1800 Augusta Hwy, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Mr. Barton passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014, surrounded by his loved ones. Bill was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Stanley and Beulah Barton on May 22, 1931. He retired from Southern Mutual Church Insurance, and was also a veteran of the Korean War. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Ruth Barton, sons, Bobby Barton (Jan), Steve Barton (Sherry), Keith Barton (Jody); daughter, Debbie Rowell (Billy). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Shut-In Ministry at Green Hill Baptist Church in West Columbia.
