Obituary of Susan Hentz Reep

Columbia-Susan Jane Hentz Reep, 64, of Columbia, died peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at her home. Born July 29, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Thad Kinard Hentz and Billie Jean McDonald. She is remembered by many generations of children as "Sue-Sue." Her life devotion was caring for children and in 1975 she began an in-home daycare. In 1989, she opened her first daycare center, Lollipop Lane, on Leesburg Road and in 1995 she opened her second location on Trenholm Road. She enjoyed vacations with her family to Walt Disney World, Myrtle Beach and the Smoky Mountains. She had a passion for interior design and her home and daycares displayed this talent. She shared a passion with her husband for collectible automobiles, and they also had a shared love for animals, mainly their four poodles, BB, Becka, Bianca and Baby. Susan is survived by her husband, with whom she shared a union of more than 48 years, Eddie Dean Reep, Sr.; four children, Eddie Dean Reep, Jr. (Kasey) of Newberry; Tammy Deanette Reep of Columbia; Kimberly Michelle Hendrix (Jason) of Batesburg-Leesville and Heather Jane Lucas (Scott) of Columbia; eight grandchildren Calli Reep, Donovan Reep (Krista), Trevor Brazell, Susan Camberlyn Reep, Hannah Jane Lucas, Bethany Reep, Anna Grace Reep and Wyatt Hendrix. She is also survived by her stepmother, Fran Hentz of Prosperity and a brother, Michael Hentz of West Columbia. "100 hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had, nor what my clothes were like. But the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child." The family would like to extend a special thank you to Advantage Hospice, especially Debra and Kathy, for the compassionate care and loving service they provided to Mrs. Reep. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M., on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the funeral home.
