Obituary of Roger Clifton Thompson

Roger Clifton Thompson, 80, of Chapin, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014. He was born on January 17, 1934 in Maiden, North Carolina to the late William Kelly Thompson and Euphemia (Ghent) Blackmon. Roger was a wonderful husband, a great dad and loving grandfather. He retired from AT&T as a supervisor of installation after 42 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and his Carolina Gamecocks. Roger was a charter member of the Jamil Shrine Temple of Columbia and also a charter member of Asbury Memorial Methodist Church. He enjoyed his weekly card games, and every year, would work with H & R Block during tax season, just because he liked to do taxes. Roger loved his family and looked forward to times when he could get them together in the summer for pontoon rides on the lake. He also loved Christmas when all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would be together. It was a special time when he was surrounded by those he loved, and those that loved him. Roger is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Betty Young Thompson, daughters; Karen Thompson Evans (George) and Sherry Knigge, both of Columbia, SC and a son; Stanley Thompson (Patti) of Goose Creek, SC.
