Obituary of Mary Duffy Coppedge Lambert
Cayce - Mary Duffy Coppedge Lambert passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Born May 31, 1921 to Hervey Biddle Coppedge and Mae Dawson Coppedge was orphaned at 6 years old at Barium Springs orphanage. She gave her life to Jesus Christ at 12 years old. Mary Graduated with honors and trained as a nurse at Columbia Baptist Hospital in South Carolina. She was married for 57 years to Alcide "Bud" J. Lambert 6 days after meeting him. He predeceased her on November 15, 1999.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by Nancy, Mary Ellen, Catherine Mary Chaffee, her daughters.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Evelyn Sica Beshers, of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey; daughters, Carolyn A. Villeneuve and Jean Twining of Springfield, Massachusetts, Patricia E. Girard of Irmo, South Carolina, Jo Michelle Runer of Lugoff, South Carolina; son, Alcide "Bud" J. Lambert, III of Chapin, South Carolina; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Mary retired from Mercy Hospital in May 1983. She loved reading her Bible, was a prayer warrior, played piano, and she was an adept seamstress. She was known in her church for her notes on Birthday cards where the writing filled every open space front to back with words of encouragement. She shared her faith with everyone she came in contact. She now breathes the clear air of Heaven, dancing with her Buddy and enjoys a great reunion with family and especially with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life verse was Proverbs 3: 5-6. She may be gone but, precious memories linger. We love you Mom.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014 in the chapel at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Entombment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
