Obituary of Carolyn P Atkins

Carolyn Pauline Atkins, 69, of West Columbia, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Palmetto Health Baptist. She was born on May 12, 1945 in Columbia, SC. She was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Carrie Taylor Atkins. Carolyn was a longtime employee of Tremont Motor Inn and BellSouth Telecommunications from which she retired. She was a member of the SC Telephone Pioneers of American and longtime member of West Side Baptist Church and the choir. Carolyn is survived by her sisters, Katie Lovell and June Goodwin of West Columbia, and Betty Hayes of Lugoff; brothers, Danny Atkins (Cheryl) of Gaston and Roger Atkins (Teresa) of West Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at West Side Baptist Church, 2100 Platt Springs Road in West Columbia on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 1-2 p.m. with funeral services following at the church. Pastor John McKeown will officiate. Burial will follow in West Side Baptist Church Cemetery on Delree Street. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association of SC, 190 Knox Abbot Drive, Ste. 301, Cayce, SC 29033 or to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
